Ivette Dominguez Owner and President, Alpine Buick Pontiac GMC As owner and president of Alpine Buick Pontiac GMC, Ivette Dominguez is in a class by herself. A self made woman and daughter of Cuban immigrants, Ivette is one of just six minority female dealership owners among the 6,753 GM dealerships in the country. With no regard for barriers, Ivette purchased her dealership in 2005. In two years, she has increased average revenues for formerly-owned and new cars by nearly 90 percent, bringing the dealership's annual revenues to nearly $47 million in 2008. Despite this year's lagging economy, Alpine continues to grow its customer base and level of service. One of a select few females to own and operate a successful car dealership, Ivette uses her experience to break down stereotypes within a male-dominated industry. She caters to the ever-growing female buying population, implementing sales techniques and inviting female salespeople, technicians, and service professionals to serve on her winning team. Ivette has also added a number of Spanish-speaking professionals to the Alpine staff, a move that has brought national attention to her dealership. Ivette is more than just the numbers, however. She promotes the economic growth of Hispanics locally through work with the Denver Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. In 2008 she was named to the organization's Board of Directors, assists with their "Circle of Latina Leadership" efforts and supports the Chamber's Education Foundation. In recognition for all her efforts, the organization bestowed on Ivette the title of "Business Woman of the Year" in 2007. Nationally, Ivette is a member of the Hispanic Women's Corporation, a nationally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation known for its proactive leadership in the development of Latina women, and recently spoke at their annual National Hispanic Women's Conference. With her prominence in Colorado growing, Ivette is also recognized by General Motors for her efforts to identify the growing influence of women and minorities on the car industry – as both customers and employees/owners. She was tapped by GM as a founding member of the GM Women's Retail Initiative in 2005 and remains a key player in their initiatives designed to change industry practices. She is also a member of the GM Minority Dealers Association (GMMDA) and sits on their Board of Directors. Most recently she participated in the 2007-2008 GMMDA scholarship program, which awarded $50,000 in scholarships and made a significant difference in the lives of young minority students across America. When founding her business in 2005, Ivette decided that she would consistently give back to her community, particularly women and their families. Four years later, Ivette has contributed thousands and thousands of dollars and man-hours to the children and families of Colorado. She volunteers annually to the Children's Miracle Network radiothon, personally making phone calls to potential donors, and assisting the group to raise over $1.4 million dollars which benefits Children's Hospital. Ivette's dealership also partners with The Children's Hospital Foundation to raise funds for the organization's Courage Classic, benefiting sick and injured kids. Julie Headley, Manager of Corporate Giving for Children's, said, "Ivette's energy and enthusiasm for our cause infected our whole team, and Alpine's in-kind donation of vehicles for our volunteers was a huge asset to the event." Finally, Ivette contributes her time in support of the automobile industry by volunteering for the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association and the National Automobile Dealer's Association. A former Californian, Ivette is a graduate of San Diego State University. She and her husband Mike have a six-year-old daughter. ivette@alpinegmc.com
